This back-garden needed redesigning into a low-maintenance, relaxing and sociable space.
My design uses the lower part of the garden near the kitchen for the terrace with built-in banquet and dining table and the upper garden for the pond, grass en relaxing area to enjoy the sun.
For consistency and uniformity I used decking planks for the terrace and banquet, and to clad part of the retaining wall, complementing this with slate in cut to size gabian baskets and a black furniture set.
To make the garden low maintenance I used high-quality artificial grass (no mowning!), dwarf plant species (no pruning!) and already full-grown trees. As the back of the garden borders a woodlike garden with large trees I blurred the transition by underplanting with bushes that will hide the fence and medium trees whose canopees blend in with the neigbour’s vegetation, making the garden look larger.
The pond is left open to the back so wildlife can easily access the water, while a blade-fountain adds the relaxing sound of cascading water.
